| Location: | Home based / at hospital events – as required |
| Time commitment: | Flexible – Flexible and as and when required – usually for scheduled hospital open days or information events. |
Why we want you
Patients often hear about the Urostomy Association when in clinic with their urinary or stoma nurse. Would you like to represent the Urostomy Association at hospital open days and healthcare events, raising awareness of our charity and ensuring patients, families, and healthcare professionals understand the support and services available?
What the role involves
- Attend hospital open days and other outreach events as requested.
- Speak with patients, carers, and professionals about the Urostomy Association’s work and the support we offer.
- Hand out leaflets, resources, and signposting information.
- Answer general questions about the charity’s services – from support groups to our helpline and practical guidance.
- Help create a welcoming, reassuring presence at the UA display stand.
- Maintain professional and friendly communication at all times.
- Keep the Transformation Director updated regarding the availability for upcoming events.
- Report any questions or concerns from attendees that may require follow-up by the charity.
- Uphold our values and safeguarding standards while representing the organisation.
The skills you’ll need
Essential
- Friendly, confident communicator, comfortable speaking with a range of people.
- Ability to explain information clearly and sensitively.
- Reliability and flexibility to attend events when needed.
- Positive attitude and willingness to promote the charity’s messages.
- Comfortable working as part of a small team at events.
- Respect for confidentiality and safeguarding practices.
Desirable
- Personal connection to urostomy care (e.g., living with a urostomy or supporting someone who does).
- Previous experience in events, outreach, public engagement, or charity volunteering.
- Basic knowledge of the Urostomy Association’s work (training provided).
