World Mental Health Day 2025

Living with a urostomy can be a big adjustment, not only physically but emotionally too. There are times when what you really need is to talk to someone who truly understands what you’re going through because they have been there themselves.

“Thank you for putting me in touch with Mary. I had a lovely chat with her this evening. For the first time since my surgery, I don’t feel alone with my urostomy. Thank you for your support.”

Jill

This World Mental Health Day, we want to celebrate and thank our brilliant volunteers who give their time, empathy and understanding to provide confidential, one-to-one support for people who may be feeling anxious, isolated or overwhelmed.

Thank you for using your lived experience to remind Jill and so many other urostomates that they are not alone, and that there is always someone who understands and cares. We really appreciate you and the vital difference you make!

“Accessing the peer support the UA provides was a game-changer. From my very first conversation with my peer supporter, I began feeling more at ease. Living with a urostomy herself, she understood my fears and could explain what to expect.”
