This September 2022, we’ll be cheering on our Chair of Trustees Brian Fretwell, who’s putting his best foot forward to tackle a 52-mile sponsored walk in aid of the Association.
Brian is braving the blisters to take on North Yorkshire’s scenic Herriot Way over four days, accompanied by his wife Glynis. Along the way, his aim is to raise as much sponsorship as possible to help fund the service the Association provides for everyone who needs us.
Brian said: “As someone living with a urostomy, and in my role as Chair, I know just how vital it is that there’s a trusted organisation to which people can turn when they are told they need a urostomy and are facing the challenge of trying to resume life ‘as normal’ once out of hospital.
“It can be an unsettling time that can leave people feeling isolated as well as uncertain about what the future holds for them, especially when it comes to relationships, work, travel, pastimes, and all sorts health matters.
“The information, listening ear and peer-to-peer support the Association provides reassures them that they don’t need to face this alone and that there’s a welcoming community of people who understand because they have been through it, too.”
