RIP Dennis Waterman

We at the Urostomy Association were saddened to hear of the recent death of actor Dennis Waterman, husband of our member Pam Flint. Our thoughts are with Pam and all of Dennis’ family and friends.

It was at Pam’s suggestion, back in 2007, that Dennis kindly hosted the first of many Dennis Waterman Celebrity Golf Days, an annual event which over the years raised well over £100,000 for our charity, helping us continue our much-valued service.

With such a high-profile name at the forefront, not only were we able to engage enough paying teams of golfers, and sponsorship money, to make each event a financial success, we were also able to attract enough well-known faces from the world of entertainment – and sport – to make the day a special one for each of the golfers.

The after-match dinner was always a special evening as Dennis, Kenny Lynch, Warren Clarke and others got on-stage with the band. Dennis never asked for a penny in expenses, and neither did any of the other celebrities, and we are very grateful to them all.

Our thoughts are with Pam, her daughter Louise, and Dennis’ daughters from a previous marriage, actress Hannah Waterman and her sister Julia, all of whom became familiar faces at our golf days.
