The UA’s inaugural online support group meeting, Oct 2025

Members often tell us how valuable it is to speak with people who truly understand what life is like with a urostomy. But with local meetings becoming less common, these opportunities can be hard to find.

So Coloplast is kindly helping us launch a series of online support group meetings.

We’ll start with a short topical presentation from a stoma care specialist, followed by insights from an invited product supplier. After that, you’ll have around 40 minutes to connect in small groups, mingle, share experiences and top tips, and ask advice from others who truly understand.

Paul Russell-Roberts – Stoma Care Nurse Specialist

“With nearly 25 years of experience in surgical nursing, my journey has been dedicated to improving patient care and empowering both patients and nurses. Since becoming a Stoma Care Nurse Specialist in 2011, I’ve been passionate about developing protocols, policies, and digital platforms that make a real difference in the lives of ostomates. Digital communication and media are close to my heart, and I’m always looking for innovative ways to enhance patient care through technology.

I’ve had the pleasure of publishing extensively on the use of assessment tools within stoma care and the importance of language and communication. Education is a true passion of mine, and I love sharing knowledge that can make a difference.

I’m here to provide insights, answer your questions, and help you feel more confident and informed about your healthcare journey.”

Karen Tomlin RN – Clinical Governance Lead – Ostomy Care/Urinary Continence Care

Karen is the Clinical Governance Lead for Ostomy Care and Urinary Continence Care at Coloplast. With over 20 years of experience in bladder and bowel nursing, Karen is passionate about improving quality of care, patient safety, and evidence-based practice.  For the last three years she has provided educational and clinical support to the Coloplast Charter team on the phone, ensuring that patients contacting us receive effective and responsive advice for their needs.
