UA Online Support Group, July 2026

It can be valuable to speak with others who truly understand what life is like with a urostomy.

So do come along to our online support group, hear from a subject matter expert or two, and meet with fellow urostomates to mingle, share experiences and top tips.

Speakers include:

Helen Cox is a Coloplast Nurse Manager with extensive experience supporting healthcare professionals and people living with a stoma. Helen started her stoma career at James Paget Hospital in Gorleston and has over 25 years experience in the world of Ostomy. Helen’s husband and son both had a stoma and she was in awe of their Stoma Nurse and despite wanting to be a barrister she switched passions and studied Nursing. In her role at Coloplast, Helen works closely with clinical teams to share best practice, deliver education, and help improve patient care and outcomes. She is passionate about empowering both healthcare professionals and patients through practical support, clinical expertise, and a person-centred approach.

Helen will be presenting on night drainage.

Natalie Tutill and Kelly Chegwidden – Natalie and Kelly are the Stoma Clinical Nurse Specialists based at North Middlesex University Hospital in Enfield, London. They provide specialist care and support for both hospital inpatients and patients living in the community across the London Borough of Haringey. They said: “Our service supports both adults and children with all aspects of stoma care. We provide expert advice, education, assessment, and ongoing management for patients with faecal stomas (including colostomies and ileostomies) as well as urostomies, helping patients and their families achieve confidence and independence in managing their stoma care needs.”

Margaret Hilsdon – Margaret is a retired teacher who has lived and worked in many countries around the world. She had her urostomy surgery in March 2020, as a result of bladder cancer. She is an active member of the Cambridge branch of the UA, which provides help and support to urostomates and those facing surgery. Since having the urostomy she has started travelling extensively in many different ways.

Margaret will be presenting on travelling with a urostomy.
