Having a urostomy means the pathway of your urine has changed from travelling through your bladder to flowing through a surgically created tube (ileal conduit), which can leave you more susceptible to developing kidney complications.

Speakers include:

Helen Lake – Helen’s expertise covers a wide range of urology conditions including bladder dysfunction, urinary tract infection (UTI), bladder pain, prostate conditions (prostatitis, benign prostatic enlargement), prostate cancer and other urology cancers, erectile dysfunction and male infertility. Her roles have included Ward Sister in the NHS, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Urology Stoma and Continence, Nurse Led Clinics and more recently Director of Men’s Health for an app based health care provider supporting men’s urology and general health issues.

Eva Bolton – Eva is a Scientific and Education Committee member with the Urology Foundation. She graduated from The National University of Ireland, Galway in 2008 and subsequently completed core surgical training in Ireland. Prior to commencing specialist training in Urology she undertook a M.D by thesis in prostate cancer molecular biology which was awarded by the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Trinity College Dublin in 2014. She obtained her certificate of completion of surgical training in urology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in July 2018 following which she completed a 2 year uro-oncology fellowship in robotic and pelvic exenterative surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. Eva is now a consultant urologist in Imperial College NHS Trust, London. She has a special interest in bladder cancer and pelvic exenterative surgery.
