Travel

It is only natural to feel nervous or apprehensive about travelling when you first have your urinary diversion surgery. However, with a little extra planning, you will soon find that you are able to once again enjoy going on holiday and travelling for work or hobbies.

There are a number of areas that you will need to consider:

  • Your physical comfort, such as position of your seatbelt in a car or how near to the toilets you sit on a plane.
  • Your packing needs, such as having equipment, bags and wipes in your hand luggage as well as your hold luggage.
  • A suitable travel insurance policy.
  • Access to toilet facilities and explaining your needs to others.

These topics are all covered in more detail in our travel information and travel insurance leaflets.

Travel information

it’s vital that your policy doesn’t exclude ‘pre-existing conditions’, e.g. any medical condition that existed before taking out the policy.
